Paul Sutton Bourbon’s century-old mash recipe has a rich history deeply rooted in the Sutton family tradition. The mash recipe dates back to 1916 and was perfected by R.M. “Grandpa” Sutton, resulting in a unique, rich, bourbon.
However, the recipe was lost after his passing in 1998, leaving only barrels and mason jars of bourbon. Seventh-generation family member, Myra Barginear MD, revived the family’s legacy using a genetic, biology-based approach to recreate the mash recipe and identify the proprietary yeast from the family’s remaining jars of bourbon. A legend was reborn.
Myra is the first woman to co-found, alongside her husband, and lead a family owned and operated distilled spirts company.
